MZA was appointed to undertake a series of infrastructure projects at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew under a programme of works funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). The projects included the design of a new Arboretum Nursery Building, design of the new Pavilion Restaurant, upgrades of the existing electrical intake for the Pavilion Gates, electrical infrastructure surveys for the entire LV distribution system on the site and the upgrade of the electrical infrastructure supplying the Stable Yard area.
The Pavilion Restaurant was re-opened in 2019 and MZA was responsible for the detailed design of the electrical services. The works involved the demolition of the existing facility and the design of a new public restaurant, complete with commercial grade kitchen and retail facilities. The works also involved the provision of a new HV supply to the site and new LV infrastructure (including switch panel and distribution cabling) to serve the Pavilion Restaurant and other local services. The design of the restaurant included the interconnection to the existing ICT and security systems for the site.
